Esc is an animated short, centred around a young gamer who wanders into a former Yakuza bath-house turned illegal underground gaming cafe for gaming addicts and punks. The young gamer, Kai, is soon teleported into a dangerous virtual world amidst a death match that becomes too real for comfort. Faced with a a fight for his life, Kai must gather his wits to escape this pixellated limbo before he’s trapped forever.
I created the video game inspired sound effects and music for this stylish animated movie. You can see a short example of this below.
