Music Composition & Sound Design

Tesco - House of Halloween

When Tesco asked me to work on their nationwide House of Halloween campaign, they made it clear what they wanted: an audio identity that was fun and memorable that would bring their spooky characters—ghost, skeleton, bat, and spider—to life on all platforms. The project needed original music and sound design that was made just for National TV, radio spots, social media, and displays in stores.

I started by coming up with a fun, catchy theme that could easily change to fit different lengths and formats. The ghost had airy, spectral sounds; the skeleton had rattles that sounded like xylophones; the bat had fluttering, high-pitched sounds; and the spider had skittering, plucked strings. The goal was to find the right balance between a fun Halloween atmosphere that was also good for families.

While collaborating with the marketing team it was very important to make sure that every aspect of the audio matched the visual storytelling and added to the campaign’s fun tone. The final mix was delivered in different versions for TV, radio, and in-store use, ensuring it maintained clairty and suitability no matter where it was heard or how it was used.

The campaign was a success, and Tesco was so happy with the results that they brought back the music and sound design for their Halloween ads in 2024. It’s been great to see the work become part of Tesco’s seasonal brand identity, and it’s always exciting to hear those spooky sounds come back in October.
