I was commissioned by Penguin Random House to create an immersive soundscape for the launch of “The Noise,” a psychological thriller by internationally acclaimed author James Patterson. My primary role was to bring to life the terrifying, otherworldly noise at the heart of the story, translating its unsettling presence into a binaural audio experience.
Drawing inspiration directly from the book’s descriptions, I developed a detailed soundscape designed to evoke the psychological intensity and suspense central to the story. The result was a binaural audio experience that placed listeners at the centre of the chaos, capturing the disorienting, immersive qualities of “the noise” as it unfolds in the narrative.
This soundscape was distributed to select book reviewers, accompanied by binaural headphones, to fully immerse them in the world of the novel ahead of its release. In addition, the audio was featured in Penguin Random House’s national TV advertising campaign, as well as in online PPC and social media promotions, amplifying the impact of the book’s launch.
Working on “The Noise” was a unique opportunity to blend literary imagination with the world of audio, helping to set the tone for one of the year’s most anticipated thrillers.
